PounceLab is built around a simple idea: a 3D printer becomes more interesting when the thing you make can participate in a real relationship.
Why cats?
A printed figurine can be fun, but its feedback loop ends when the print finishes. A cat turns a printed mechanism into an experiment. The builder can watch whether the object attracts attention, how it moves under a paw, whether the reward rate is too easy or too hard, and how changes in geometry alter behavior.
Why “Lab”?
Because the goal is not merely to obtain a file. It is to print, test, notice, modify, and try again. PounceLab projects are meant to expose their mechanics rather than hide them.
Why FoodFlip first?
FoodFlip combines several understandable physical ideas in one small object: a low center of mass, restoring torque, leverage, a changing internal food path, scent, sound, and variable reward. That makes it a compact platform for experimentation as well as a cat enrichment concept.
